The term "Mexican hot movies" is most closely associated with the Ficheras genre. The Ficheras or "Mexican sex comedies" (also known as Sexicomedias ) were a dominant genre of sexploitation and Mexploitation films that flourished during the 1970s and 1980s. These low-budget films were generally of poor quality but were incredibly popular, featuring sexual tones, double entendre, and simple plots often set in nightclubs, brothels, or rural villages. The term " Ficheras " comes from the 1975 film Las ficheras , which told the stories of women who entertained men at nightclubs.
