Söhne was released in 2019 by Klim Type Foundry’s founder, Kris Sowersby. The name "Söhne" (German for "Sons") pays homage to the sons of the great industrial designers—a metaphor for the typeface being a descendant of the German and Swiss typographic traditions of the 1950s and 60s.

: The fonts shared in these communities are often of poor quality. As one VK user noted in a discussion, the shared files are “extracted from a PDF document (probably the font specimen), which means they won’t install correctly, most of them are missing over 80% of the glyphs found in the complete fonts, and they are basically useless trash”. Another user colorfully compared it to “128 kbps MP3” compared to the “320 kbps/FLAC” quality of the official fonts.
If you need Sohne for a professional project, it is highly recommended to use official channels.
The Regular and Mono weights are highly effective for interface design and technical content. Licensing and Accessibility
If you spend any time in the graphic design, branding, or tech startup spheres, you are likely familiar with Söhne . Developed by the Berlin-based type foundry Klim Type Foundry, Söhne has quietly become the defining sans-serif of the 2020s. Prized for its crisp geometry, excellent legibility, and a delicate balance between warmth and neutrality, it is the typographic equivalent of a perfectly tailored minimalist outfit.
Klim Type Foundry clearly states: "Söhne is not free. You must purchase a license for commercial use. Unauthorized distribution is copyright infringement."
